David Gillieson is a member of RIG and resident of American River.
He is also a geographer with interests in the scientific exploration of Australia in the early 19th century. He is an Honorary Professor with the School of Geography, University of Melbourne and has held academic appointments at ANU, UNSW and JCU. He is an elected Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society (UK) and is a member of the Royal Geographical Society of South Australia.
