25 June 2023 - Nearly There
It's been quite a while since we updated this website but one can only post so many pictures of planks being added to Independence! Slowly but surely, however, we are approaching a real milestone with the impending completion of the first skin of hull planks.
(For those of you who were last in the boathouse some while ago, we need to apply three skins of oregon to provide the necessary hull strength to allow us to carry passengers.)
As you can see from the picture, the gap between the top (or as it's upside down maybe that should be bottom) of the hull and the keel is getting very narrow. Tony Stockton, RIG's boat builder in chief assures me that the first skin should be completed by the end of the week. I'll try and get a picture in place as soon as it's done.
